Reservation

Reservation received by Ounaskievari Ky is considered as confirmed upon confirmation sent by e-mail, text message or written voucher.

Payment and Taxes

Ounaskievari Ky does not require a deposit in advance. All safaris payments should be settled 24 hours before the activity or payment can be made in the online web shop at the time of booking. We use STRIPE payments.

Prices and Taxes

All given prices include 10% VAT according to the Taxation Laws and Regulations of Finland. Ounaskievari Ky reserves the right to adjust the prices in the event of any unforeseen increases in costs (including but not limited to increases in the amount of taxes, fuel prices etc.) beyond the control of Ounaskievari.

Amendments

Amendments should be made at least 12 hours before the start of the activity, and are subject to safari availability. When an amendment is confirmed, customers should receive a confirmation or written consent from Ounaskievari.

If Ounaskievari is making changes in the booking, we will inform you as soon as possible. You are able to choose wheather to accept our alternatives, or cancel your booking with a full refund.

Ounaskievari Ky reserves the right to make alterations to the departure times, programs, price, duration or form of transportation without prior warning. This is also applied to changes in programs due to weather conditions.

Cancellation

For cancellation, please inform [email protected] and refer to your booking name / number.

For individuals:

Cancellation charges: Less than 3 days, no show or being late from agreed meeting time is 100% non-refundable of the total amount, 3 – 14 days 50 % of the total amount.

For groups:

We will charge a cancellation fee of 100 % if booking is cancelled 14 days or less before event.

We will charge a cancellation fee of 50% if booking is cancelled 60 days or less before event.

After the reservation we will charge pre-paymend of 10% of the total amount, which is non- refundable.
If the reason for cancellation is due to injury or illness, please a provide medical certificate for further reference, or we may agree an alternative date from the original booking date.

Acknowledgement of Risk

It is the customer’s obligation to understand basic English in order to understand the instructions, and you should be able to communicate with the guides in charge in case of emergency.

If you are pregnant, please let us know. The sleigh can fall down and one can fall in the snow. Failure to inform the Ounaskievari Ky staff about the pregnancy shall release the company from any liability to the pregnant customer.

Activities are taking place in forests, all safari procedures were have been taken into consideration to minimise any risk. However, the behavior of animals and arctic conditions can never be fully predicted and therefore in order to reduce risks, customers are obligated to follow and obey all given safety instructions by Ounaskievari guides.

If guide believes that participants´ behavior is causing distress,dangerous or damage for other participants, animals or equipment – guide has authority to cancel your right to continue activity and company is not liable for activity refund or compensation.

Customers should acknowledge that arctic weather conditions may make the ground very slippery when the temperatures are close to zero degrees Celsius.  It is possible to get frost bite when temperatures are below 30 degrees Celsius.

In case of any complaints – notify the guides immediately after the safari or contact sales office in written form or by visiting. Ounaskievari cannot accept liability for causes of dissatisfaction which are not notified to us immediately after the safari.

Force Majeure

In case of emergencies, natural disaster, political disturbances and the like beyond our control (Force Majeure), which leaves with no other option than to cancel or alter a trip, Ounaskievari Ky is not obligated to refund any trip costs which may have incurred on the customer, as this in most cases is to be covered by travel insurances. However, customer satisfaction is important to us, and if Force Majeure is to occur, we will ensure the best service and security as we possibly can, and in many cases re-booking a trip to another date may be the best option.

Transportation and pickup

Some tours include a round trip transfer from Levi Information Center (Myllyjoentie 2) or other place if agreed in advance. The time and place for meeting will be confirmed upon reservation. Customers are transferred in a minibus or by other means of transportation organised by Ounaskievari Ky.

Being late from transportation or a no-show are considered as a no-show and payment is 100% not refunded.

Equipment

Use winter clothing for the safaris – gloves, thermal overall, shoes, hats, balaclava, and woolen socks. We have extra blankets for the sleighs.

Travel Insurance

We strongly recommend that you purchase your own travel insurance from your home country that covers not only the travel but also winter sports/extreme sports – reindeer safaris, husky sledding, snowmobiling, skiing etc. Also cancellation, sickness/medical conditions, lost/stolen luggage and personal items and in case of Force Maejure.

Liability Insurance
Ounaskievari Ky has a General Third Party Liability Insurance for bodily injury and property damage according to the terms and conditions of OP Insurance Ltd.

The Finnish law prohibits driving vehicles under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Ounaskievari reserves the right to change the route and duration of all excursions due to the prevailing weather and snow conditions or in consideration of the safety and comfort of the participants.

Applicable Law and Jurisdiction

These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Finland. The parties submit all their disputes arising out of or in connection with this Agreement to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of Finland.
